About Make ’em Smile!!
MAKE ‘EM SMILE!! celebrates its 4th year anniversary of playing music for the kids in Hawaii hospitals. With over 20,000 performances in the last 4 years and over 50 different musicians and entertainers volunteering their time, MAKE ‘EM SMILE!! Is now expanding to 8 hospitals in Hawaii.
The gift of music and entertainment includes guitar, ukulele, multiple music and singing groups, harmonica, break dancing, ventriloquists featuring dinosaur puppets and much much more.
Seymour Kazimirski, founder and director for MAKE ‘EM SMILE!! humbly credits all the entertainers for their efforts and says “We do this for the kids, for their parents; we do this for the Doctors and Nurses and all the support staff at the hospital. We get so much joy in making this possible and every one of us leaves every performance with gratitude that we can MAKE ‘EM SMILE!!”
MAKE ‘EM SMILE!! is a pro bono organization which allows music to aid in the healing process of those who are going through tough times. MAKE ‘EM SMILE!! organization enables musicians to have full interaction with patients in hospitals. The musicians stroll from room to room and bring the gift of music into the lives of those in need. Not only do the patients benefit from the joy of music but the staff, parents, and volunteers benefit equally. Bringing a smile to people’s faces, as well as lifting the spirits of many is just one of the attributes affiliated with MAKE EM’ SMILE!!. MAKE ‘EM SMILE!! began at Kapiolani Medical Center for Woman and Children in the children’s oncology unit. Musicians have also performed at Shriner’s Hospital and we are excited to announce that we will be visiting Tripler and several other hospitals in the coming year.
